After Gurjeet Lidder and Arvinder Panesar?s paths crossed in Canada, the two came together using their expertise and knowledge to create Canuck Security Services Ltd. in 2006, a company that provides security guards and all types of electronic surveillance. In the last six years, Canuck Security which started with one employee has grown to 250 employees.

Lidder, a retired army colonel who served in the Indian army for 25 years, came to Canada in 2004, while Panesar, who has an engineering background, came in 2006. ?I have been doing security all my life, starting with security at a national level defending India,? says Lidder. ?The basic concept is the same for our company, as we safeguard individual?s business or personal property, wealth and goods. The guards are educated at the Canuck School of Education, which is recognized for its excellent teaching programs that include Basic Security Training (BST); Advance Security Training (AST); First Aid; Fire Watch/Fire Extinguisher Training; Customer Service and Public Relations basics; and Site-specific training.

The guards are also trained to use technology equipment such as live scanner systems. When they arrive at a site, they use a scanner to check in and when they leave they scan out ? in the case of an emergency, guards can use their scanners to indicate they are safe while the company?s supervisors and police, if necessary, head to their location.

Canuck Security has a revolutionary command centre, which monitors its guards and security sites/properties around the clock to ensure both the guard?s safety and the protection of the site/property. The company has an added service and holds keys for clients who are out-of-town for a few weeks and months to years.
