That's a bit short of our record (9.5 ppm) for a color laser, and a very good speed considering its 33 page-per-minute rated speed for both color and black-and-white printing that?s based on printing text documents without graphics or photos?our test suite includes text pages, graphics pages, and pages with mixed content.

The Editors' Choice Xerox Phaser 6280DN ($649 direct, 4 stars), with a rated speed of 31 pages per minute for monochrome and 26 for color, took more than twice as long to finish the same tests, at an effective 4.5 ppm, while we timed the OKI C610DN ($789 list, 4 stars), rated at 34 pages per minute for monochrome and 32 for color printing, at an effective 6.7 ppm.

Output Quality

The M551DN?s overall output quality is above average, thanks to very good graphics and photo quality. Text quality is typical for a laser, which is to say good enough for any business use short of demanding desktop publishing applications that use very small fonts.

With graphics, colors were bright and looked reasonably true. Some black backgrounds weren?t quite as dark as I would have liked, and some very thin colored lines against black backgrounds could have been sharper, but there were no other issues worth mentioning. Its output quality, particularly for text, is slightly better than the M551DN. Its running costs, however, are higher than the HP's, both standard and optional paper capacity is lower, and it took twice as long as the M551DN to print out our business applications suite. If output quality is paramount, the 6280DN may be a better choice, but the HP LaserJet Enterprise 500 Color Printer M551DN offers a much better balance between quality, speed, and running costs.?

WASHINGTION, DC?As the hottest month of the year approaches and temperatures are rapidly rising, attention is being drawn to the dangers of leaving children unattended in hot cars.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 532 children have lost their lives to vehicular heatstroke since 1998 and most of those deaths occur in children ages three and younger.

The impact of hotter weather has already claimed lives. Lincoln Lindsey, an 8-month-old Kentucky body, died on June 20 after his father forgot to take the child to day care. According to Louisville police, the temperature was around 90 degrees that day and the boy?s lifeless body was found strapped in the car seat.

Keeping accidents like this in mind, the nation?s top auto safety agency and one of the country?s most vocal child safety organizations have partnered up in an effort to spread awareness and prevent child deaths from heatstroke.

The NHTSA and Safe Kids Worldwide will host events throughout July to educate communities about heatstroke which is the leading cause of non-crash, vehicle-related deaths of children under the age of 14.

NHTSA officials explain that there are also a number of children injured each year due to heatstroke in hot cars. The injuries range from permanent brain injury and blindness to the loss of hearing.

The national campaign urges parents and caregivers to think ?Where?s baby? Look before you lock.? Officials say they adopted this mantra because heatstroke often occurs when a parent unintentionally forgets a child in the back of a vehicle.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, in 2010 a 7-month-old was left in the car for 14 hours in Antioch, Calif., after each parent assumed the other would take her inside.

?Everything we know about this terrible danger to children indicates heatstroke in hot cars can happen to any caregiver from any walk of life ? and the majority of these cases are accidental tragedies that can strike even the most loving and conscientious parents,? said NHTSA Administrator Strickland.

To prevent heatstroke incidents from occurring parents should never leave a child unattended in a vehicle and make a habit of looking in the vehicle before locking the door. The boundaries of Rangel?s district have been changed ? giving it a much larger proportion of Hispanic voters. Rangel himself, once a vigorous campaigner, has slowed down. And Rangel no longer has the clout he used to have when he ran the powerful House Ways & Means Committee, which sets tax policy and writes bills affecting Social Security, Medicare, and other entitlement programs.

Nevertheless, he remains a force.

Last Friday, Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) of New York gave Rangel his endorsement, on the basis of the many years he has represented the district.

Legal Mess for Goldman Continues - Zacks.com

According to Reuters, the federal judge in New York rescinded the bid filed by The Goldman Sachs Group Inc. (GS - Analyst Report) regarding the dismissal of a lawsuit charged against the bank, accusing it of selling risky debts via misleading statements. The U.S. District Judge, Paul Crotty, has ordered the plaintiffs to pursue the proceedings over their claims against Goldman relating to the offering of collateralized debt obligations (CDOs) stating "Goldman's arguments in this respect are Orwellian?.

CDOs typically repackage bonds and other assets into new securities. These are not traded on a public exchange, allowing firms like Goldman to generate fees through brokering deals between buyers and sellers. However, CDOs have performed miserably since these were invested in securities comprising sub-prime mortgages, which are known to have larger-than-average risk of defaulting in the market. Eventually, the market downturn ruined the investment banker?s expectations, resulting in huge losses for the common investors.

The aforesaid lawsuit has been filed by the shareholders of the company in Manhattan federal court. They claimed that Goldman concealed the fact of betting against its clients by taking short positions in four CDO transactions, which were sold to the investors. Institutional investors, such as the Arkansas Teacher Retirement System, the Plumbers and Pipefitters National Pension Fund and the West Virginia Investment Management Board are also among the plaintiffs.

All these plaintiffs alleged that Goldman?s act of concealing facts at the time of entering such transactions led to inflated stock prices. Therefore, investors faced losses when the lawsuits were filed against Goldman relating to these transactions, which led to a fall in its share price.

The complaints claimed that Goldman deceptively sold the sub-prime mortgage-linked securities that gradually failed. In addition to that, it misrepresented the value of instruments by providing materially misleading statements.

Among the four transactions involved in the lawsuit, the first one was the Securities and Exchange Commission?s (SEC) charges against the company accusing it of misleading investors by misrepresenting facts in its mortgage-backed securities of over $1 billion. The SEC's complaint accused the investment bank of creating a CDO called Abacus 2007-AC1, which was made up of mortgage-backed securities.

Goldman was also charged by the SEC in the U.S. for misstating facts and selling bad quality sub-prime investments to its customers in 2006, without disclosing the risk factors and the vital role of Paulson & Co., a prime hedge fund, in the portfolio selection process. Therefore, Goldman reached a settlement of $550 million in July 2010 with SEC.

The other three transactions included the Hudson CDO in 2006, the Anderson CDO in 2007, and Timberwolf I hybrid CDO-squared transaction in 2007. In all these transactions, Goldman was blamed for making billions by selling poor quality assets to clients while short selling those securities.

Moreover, claims against individual defendants, such as the chief executive officer Lloyd Blankfein; the chief financial officer David Viniar and chief operating officer Gary Cohn, were also not dismissed by the federal judge.

The continuously increasing number of lawsuits is sure to dent Goldman?s reputation and its financials. However, investors, who have lost their hard-earned money in such investments, should feel relieved.

Among other banks, Citigroup Inc. (C - Analyst Report), JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM - Analyst Report), HSBC Holdings Plc (HBC - Analyst Report) and M&T Bank Corp. (MTB - Analyst Report) have also been legally accused for distorting documents related to mortgage-backed securities and other losses in 2011.

Goldman currently retains a Zacks #3 Rank, which translates into a short-term Hold rating. Considering the fundamentals, we also maintain a long term ?Neutral? recommendation on the stock.

Do not use a chemical drain opener when you are attempting to unclog your drains. These chemicals can open your drain but they also may hurt you if you get them on your skin. If you plan on using chemicals, then wear adequate protection such as long sleeved shirts and gloves.

If you get your water from a well and orange or pink stains appear in your sink or tub, then you can be sure that the culprit is iron in your water. A water softener will take care of the issue. This can either be done by yourself, or you can hire a professional to come and take care of.

Avoid using harsh abrasive chemicals to clean your fiberglass sinks, bathtubs, toilets and drains. Soaps like dish and laundry detergents are gentler alternatives. These cleaning agents won?t scratch or damage your fiberglass like harsher abrasive cleaners could, and they are also much gentler on your plumbing system.

A lot of people do not know what to do about their plumbing issues so they pay a plumber big bucks! If you own your own home, you owe it to yoruself and your wallet to learn enough about plumbing basics to at least understand what a plumber is doing and why. Not sure who has been chirping in EA Sports ears, but they have heard the complaints. This year?s game looks to bring new features that will pack a punch.

EA Sports Hockey IQ: forget the old AI, this year you will need to play hockey the way it is meant to be played. The focus is on real-world hockey systems and strategies. Goalies anticipate plays to avoid easy one-timers, defenseman pick up the empty man, and teams now can play an offensive and defensive system. See the video here.

With all the great features, there are sure to still be some bugs that glitchers (QC) will surely find. Still, with improved goalies to better anticipate one-timers, defense that actually read the play accordingly, momentum that is more realistic to the game and now having the ability to play within a set system, the game should be that much more worth purchasing. I can see it now, a recreation of the Philadelphia Flyers out waiting the Tampa Bay Lightning?s 1-3-1 trap. Well, hopefully not, but at least teams can now implement a dump and chase strategy that may actually work.

Top 5 Tips for Military Spouse Brides [or Grooms]

After writing my open letter to a naive National Guard spouse yesterday I got to thinking about all the the things that I really wish someone would?ve told me when I married into the military. The letter speaks to guard spouse Lacey?Vermeulen, who went to her local news station outraged that her husband?s mid-tour leave had been pulled. Perhaps if she had known, however, that leave changes are just another day at the beach, she would?ve let it roll off her back and moved on.

So here are my top five things I wish someone would?ve told me when I was a brand new military spouse bride. Since there are about one million things someone should?ve told me and I have whittled it down to only five, there are probably things that you think are important but are not included here. Feel free to add yours in the comment section. Maybe our crowd wisdom will keep some military bride somewhere from making the same mistakes I or Lacey Vermeulen did.

1. The military never, ever does what they say they are going to do. This is so hard because the promises sound so wonderful when they are made, and emotions run so high when you hear things like ?we?ll send him home early!? and ?you can have two full weeks of uninterrupted-by-dumb-problems leave!? But think about it this way: the unpredictability makes the whole thing a big adventure. The only thing you can bet on is that the thing they said they?d do is not the thing that will happen. So buckle your seatbelt and enjoy the ride. That?s ?glass half-full? sort of stuff.

2. The chain of command applies to you, too, if only by default.? I am a girl who likes to get around the normal flow of things and go straight to the top. When I call the cable company about some sort of billing shenanigan I don?t even bother with the little man ? I ask for the manager right away. Things just get done faster that way.

But that doesn?t work in the military. You have to play by the rules. Why? Because you are an extension of your servicemember. And while technically those bossmen can?t control what you do, your spouse can and will get in trouble if you make his commander look bad. That means when something you feel is unjust goes down you have to first go through the chain of command to fix it. Hint: start by talking to your family readiness group leader.

3. Military life does not come with a manual ? but there are manuals out there. Do a quick Amazon search and you?ll see plenty of books by plenty of fabulous people on surviving military life ? even our very own SpouseBuzz Boss Lady Jacey has written one.?

This list on Amazon is a pretty good rundown of books, but there are plenty more out there.

4. Ask for help from an older spouse. I know it can be a bit daunting to just walk-up to someone you?ve never met and ask them for advice. But I can promise you it will help. At your first family group meeting try introducing yourself to the family group leader and saying something like ?I have no idea what I?m doing and I have a lot of questions about how to navigate military life. Can you help me?? I bet they will be happy to lend you a hand. Why? Because we have all been in your shoes at some point.

5. The internet is a big ol? military support group. There are plenty of websites and Facebook pages out there run by people who just want to complain or who simply want someone to commiserate with. But there are also lots and lots of great communities rich with helpful information and people who have been there, done that, know it sucks and want to help you through it. SpouseBuzz is one of those places ? but there are plenty of others. For example, if you are in the Army the Army Wife Network is a great place to go. If you are a ManSpouse check out Wayne Perry?s new group for spouse dudes.

So welcome to the military family, bride [or groom]. We know it?s scary ? but we?re also here to take care of you. If you give it a chance you may just fall in love with the military life like I have.

Will Microsoft Buy Nokia?

Microsoft held a one-day event Wednesday for developers who want to learn more about Windows Phone 8. This will be the first Microsoft smartphone platform based on Microsoft Windows instead of Windows CE. It is a last-ditch, all-or-nothing effort for both Microsoft and Nokia to get back into the smartphone game. I think we saw enough clues during the event and in related official blog posts to say with some certainty that Microsoft soon will announce it is buying Nokia.

Here's my guess: Microsoft will announce it has bought Nokia--or at least the part that makes phones and developers' mobile software--before the end of 2012, maybe around the time Apple is likely to announce an iPhone 5.

Argentina withdraws ambassador over Paraguay president's ouster

ASUNCION (Reuters) - Paraguay's new president said on Saturday he would ask his impeached predecessor to help quell regional tensions after Argentina withdrew its ambassador in protest at what it said was a coup and Brazil recalled its top diplomat for consultations.

Paraguay's South American neighbors and key trading partners are taking it to task for the unprecedented speed with which its opposition-dominated Congress removed President Fernando Lugo on Friday, saying he had failed to fulfill his duties to maintain social harmony.

A silver-haired former Roman Catholic bishop, Lugo was a year away from completing his five-year term. He decried the two-day impeachment trial but said he accepted the decision and stepped down.

He spoke to reporters outside his home on Saturday night, saying he was toppled by a "a congressional coup" and that Paraguay was now facing isolation.

The new president, Federico Franco, planned to speak to Lugo to help ease relations with other governments in the region. "I think he is the key to decompressing (the situation)."

Franco had been Lugo's vice president but was a fierce critic and his Liberal Party withdrew its support for Lugo last week, paving the way for the swift impeachment trial.

"I'm going to speak with him myself," Franco, a 49-year-old doctor, said in an interview with Reuters. He was sworn in on Friday shortly after Lugo was ousted.

The impeachment was sparked by clashes that killed 17 police and peasant farmers during a recent land eviction.

Critics of the impeachment complained that Lugo's lawyers had only a few hours to defend him in the Senate, which voted 39-4 in favor of his removal.

Argentina ordered the immediate withdrawal of its ambassador from Paraguay due to "rupture of the democratic order."

The move came a day after Argentine President Cristina Fernandez described Lugo's ouster as a coup. She also warned that measures could be adopted against Paraguay within the Mercosur trade bloc, which groups Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay. In theory, this could include suspension for violating Mercosur's democratic principles.

Brazil on Saturday called its ambassador in Paraguay home for consultations. It "condemned" Lugo's removal because he was not able to defend himself properly, "compromising a fundamental pillar of democracy."

Brazil's government also said democracy was essential to regional integration and must be defended. Brazil is Paraguay's top trading partner and Latin America's biggest economy.

Uruguay - another member of Mercosur - urged Paraguay to call elections as soon as possible.

Peru and Mexico also questioned the speed of the process to remove Lugo from office, although Mexico recognized the legality of the impeachment process.

FRANCO DEFENDS IMPEACHMENT

Franco defended the impeachment and said he would work to convince Argentina to reinstate its ambassador.

"(Lugo) recognized he faced a tribunal, he recognized the tribunal's verdict and finally he agreed to step down. Even more importantly, he asked for people to remain peaceful so no more blood would be shed," Franco said.

Asuncion felt oddly normal on Saturday, with businesses opening as usual and few police officers patrolling the streets a day after they clashed briefly with protesters outside Congress.

Paraguay is one of South America's poorest countries and it has a long history of political instability and military rule.

The trial's speed raised concerns throughout the hemisphere. Leftist leaders in Venezuela, Bolivia, Ecuador and Cuba said they would not recognize the new administration and vowed to lobby for sanctions against Paraguay.

Brazil, which is a strategic ally to Paraguay, said it will not respond unilaterally and will seek consensus within the UNASUR group of South American nations.

About 100,000 Brazilians live in Paraguay - a landlocked, soy-exporting nation of 6 million people - and some of them own companies, large cattle ranches or soybean farms. The two countries jointly run the giant Itaipu hydroelectric dam.

"We will make contact with neighboring countries and I'm sure they will comprehend the situation in Paraguay," Franco told reporters earlier on Saturday. "At no time was there a rupture or a coup, there was simply a change of leadership in line with the constitution and the country's laws."

Lichen can survive in space: Space station research sheds light on origin of life; potential for better sunscreens

ScienceDaily (June 23, 2012) ? You can freeze it, thaw it, vacuum dry it and expose it to radiation, but still life survives. ESA's research on the International Space Station is giving credibility to theories that life came from outer space -- as well as helping to create better sunscreens.

In 2008 scientists sent the suitcase-sized Expose-E experiment package to the Space Station filled with organic compounds and living organisms to test their reaction to outer space.

When astronauts venture on a spacewalk, hours are spent preparing protective suits to survive the hostile conditions. No effort was made to protect the bacteria, seeds, lichen and algae attached to the outside of the Space Station, however.

"We are exploring the limits of life," explains ESA's Ren? Demets.

Our atmosphere does a wonderful job of protecting life on Earth by absorbing harmful UV rays and keeping temperatures relatively stable.

In contrast, the space samples endured the full power of the Sun's rays. The samples were insulated somewhat by the Space Station but still had to cope with temperatures changing from -12?C to +40?C over 200 times as they orbited Earth.

The samples returned to Earth in 2009 and the results have now been published in a special issue of the journal Astrobiology.

Lichen have proven to be tough cookies -- back on Earth, some species continue to grow normally.

Ren? explains, "These organisms go into a dormant state waiting for better conditions to arrive."

The lichen have attracted interest from cosmetic companies. They can survive the full power of the Sun for 18 months, so knowing more could lead to new ingredients for sunscreen.

Living organisms surviving in open space supports the idea of 'panspermia' -- life spreading from one planet to another, or even between solar systems.

It seems possible that organisms could colonize planets by hitching rides on asteroids. ESA is probing this intriguing theory further on future Station missions with different samples.

For seniors who suffer from more major health conditions that require more detailed care, assisted living isn?t the best option.

Nursing Homes or Skilled Nursing Facilities

The professionals at nursing homes would be able to meet your senior?s needs much better if they suffered from more serious conditions. These communities provide all the same personal care services of an Assisted Living Facility with the addition of 24-hour nursing care. People living in nursing homes don?t have nearly as much freedom and usually have to share a room with other people. Nursing Home Care tends to be more expensive than other facilities due to the volume of personnel and expensive medical equipment required to meet patient?s medical needs.

Custom PC builder Maingear had something pretty nifty up its sleeve at Pepcom tonight: versions of its desktops configured to run Saitek's flight-simulation hardware -- in this case, with a full cockpit setup. In partnership with Mad Catz, the company developed configurations of its Potenza, F131 and Shift desktops optimized to work with the Saitek line of flight-sim systems.

Tonight we saw the Shift paired with some pretty heavy-duty hardware: we're talking 18 USB connections for the full Saitek cockpit. Maingear's pro-certified system packs a Core i7 CPU clocked at up to 3.9GHz and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 graphics (with four GPUs), and with an experienced pilot behind the wheel, that translated into a smooth landing in Flight Simulator X. Since 1906, Neighborhood House has been helping diverse communities of people with limited resources attain their goals for self-sufficiency, financial independence, health and community building. Our services include early childhood education (including Head Start and Early Head Start), mentoring and tutoring, emergency referral services, self-sufficiency/employment classes and services (including ESL and citizenship), job placement and training, substance abuse services, transportation and outreach for the elderly and disabled and publication of the Voice newspaper. Annually, Neighborhood House serves over 13,500 individuals. Of those, 80 percent are refugees and immigrants.

Scope
The BRIDGE.start Youth Case Manager-Lead has primary responsibility to provide intensive case management services to referred/eligible middle-school youth and their families to improve school performance, build social assets and decrease risk factors. The BRIDGE.start Youth Case Manager will directly provide or coordinate a comprehensive menu of services for referred youth and their families.

These services include: determining eligibility, completing a needs assessment and case plan, making referrals and service linkages, counseling, performing home visits, crisis intervention, documentation of services, follow-up services, and evaluation. In addition, we are seeking an experienced case manager or counselor who can assist with clinical guidance and program development on individual or particularly challenging cases within his/her team.

Responsibilities
With team-members, review individual cases and help with brainstorming, problems solving and/or clinical oversight.
Demonstrate and model best practices in social work standards, documentation and protocols for team.
Assist with curriculum development and facilitation to meet the needs of enrolled youth as needed. Example of the needs are during the summer, afterschool or school breaks (e.g., life skills, anger management, etc.)
Perform outreach and recruitment activities.
Coordinate intake and screenings to determine eligibility for referred youth.
Conduct a needs assessment and develop individualized case plans for each assigned youth.
Provide intensive case management services for a caseload of 18-20 youth and their families.
Coordinate on-going services and new referrals with school staff and other service providers, including leading regular case conferences.
Provide information, resources, referrals, and advocacy to link clients to appropriate services in a timely manner. Ensure resources are accessed by families.
Provide counseling and crisis intervention services to referred youth and their families.
Conduct home visits and in-person meetings with parents/family to coordinate support of the youth and connect families to community resources
?Offer and monitor techniques to effectively engage families in the successful education of their children.
Provide mentoring directly or through referrals to local organizations.
Provide follow up services which include support, monitoring, transition to new schools, and crisis intervention.
Maintain good working relationships with school staff and other community service providers through effective, ongoing communication.
Assist with group activities, workshops, trainings, and special events (including summer events and activities).
Track and document all services and complete monthly reports.
Assist with assessing and monitoring overall program impact and achievement of outcomes.
Work as a member of the BRIDGE.start team and the Neighborhood House Education and Community Services Department.
Be available by cell phone on nights and weekends for crisis intervention (on-call, as necessary.)
Supervise interns or program volunteers, as needed.

Qualifications
Bachelor Degree in Social Work or a related field. Masters of Social Work preferred. Relevant experience with youth and families may substitute for formal degree.
Direct expertise in areas of youth violence, gang prevention, substance abuse or mental health counseling desired.
Four years direct experience working with youth and/or families in social work, human service, or school settings.
Outstanding interpersonal and relationship-building skills and a non-judgmental, positive, problem-solving attitude.
Team player who is resourceful and proactive.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with individuals from a wide range of cultural backgrounds.
Ability to work with multiple partners and service providers.
Ability to work effectively in a multi-cultural environment in schools, family homes, and with co-workers.
Experience conducting group activities, trainings, and classes/workshops.
Computer literacy, including MS Office.
Willingness to comply with established agency policies and performance standards, which may include productivity/personal responsibility, client/customer services, teamwork and maintaining a professional demeanor.
Ability to work primarily during Public School hours and an occasional flexible schedule, including some evening and weekend events.
Must pass the Washington State Patrol background check (re-check every two years) and National Sex Offender Public Registry Check.
Must have reliable, independent transportation for frequent last-minute travel between Seattle worksites.
Current First Aid certificate within 30 days of employment (maintain current certificate during employment).
Current CPR certificate within 30 days of employment (maintain current certificate during employment).
Child Protective Services (CPS) Training within 30 days of hire employment.

Dad's brains mean more to his son's success than his money: Study

ScienceDaily (June 21, 2012) ? Sons of fathers with high incomes tend to end up with higher than average incomes themselves, but new research shows that it's not just dad's money that helps a son on his way.

According to a study recently published in the Journal of Political Economy, human capital endowments passed from father to son -- perhaps in the form of smarts, advice, work ethic, or some other intangible -- could be more important to a son's success than the size of dad's paycheck.

"We know there's a correlation between fathers' income and sons'." said David Sims, an economics professor at Brigham Young University and one of the study's authors. "What's gotten less attention is the mechanism. We wanted to see if the intergenerational income correlation is due to money -- what we can buy for our kids -- or if human capital attributes passed from father to son play a role as well."

The problem is that separating the two inputs is tricky. On average, fathers with higher human capital endowments also tend to have higher incomes, so it's hard to tell which factor is doing what. Sims and his colleagues used a statistical model and a rich dataset to try to disentangle the two.

The authors' methodology builds on the following thought experiment. Take two smart, similarly skilled and educated fathers. Say one lived in a town with a robust labor market and he had a big salary. The other father wasn't so lucky. He lived in a town with a depressed labor market, and had much lower earnings despite his comparable human capital. If money is the only thing that matters in the intergenerational transfer of income, then we'd expect that the son of the lucky father would end up with a higher income than the son of the unlucky father. However, if human capital matters, the two sons may end up with more similar incomes.

To test this idea, the researchers used remarkably detailed government administrative data on a large sample of Swedish fathers with sons born between 1950 and 1965. The data included salary information for fathers and sons as well as clues about fathers' human capital: education levels and the nature of their occupations. Fathers with more education or those who work in jobs that require specialized skills are considered to have higher human capital endowments that could be passed to sons.

First, Sims and his colleagues looked for a raw correlation between fathers' incomes and their sons', which, as expected, was quite strong. Then they employed a statistical methodology to isolate differences in fathers' income due to something other than human capital, like in the example of similar fathers who worked in differing labor market conditions. If the income correlation weakens for fathers and sons in these types of situations, the researchers could conclude that money isn't the only thing that matters.

And that's exactly what the study found. Income differences not related to a father's human capital were weaker predictors of a son's income. In other words, human capital matters.

"We can conclude that, for the men in our dataset, differing human capital endowments passed from father to son account for about two-thirds of the overall intergenerational income relationship," Sims said. "We don't offer a final answer here, but we do offer some boundary conditions and present a methodology that could help unravel the question."
